Micro Trend : Water Prints

Move over the galaxy prints of last seasons to give another print in the blue center stage. Welcome the water print. With designers like Charlotte Ronson, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler all vouching for the calm and refreshing prints, it has to mean something right. We feel, this will surely and quickly trickle down and reach more fashionistas. The color and concept is universally flattering and if you have a chance to get your hands on one of these (even if slightly close) do give it a shot.

We are imaging a water print blouse with white shorts as the ultimate cool in this season, or a water print sun dress (Oh the irony!) paired minimally with Greek sandals. How would you wear the trend?

Cannes 2013 Freida Pinto VS Sonam Kapoor

If you are not living under a rock, you must have heard that Cannes 2013 started 2 days back. And while this may be too soon for a face-off but Freida Pinto and Sonam Kapoor had us spoilt for choices. Both the celebrities are already wooing us with their fashion wardrobe, and we really couldn't wait to know what you thought. 

While Sonam has already donned a semi-traditional look( which has become sort of her forte' and signature), Freida with her international appeal has been sticking with western outfits so far (and our guess is she will continue to do so) Both are also the ambassadors for L'Oreal and hence are expected to appear on some events together. But some of their pictures snapped together already point towards an amicable chemistry.

Fashion inspiration : Metallic Shoes

So we are in mood for some shoe porn today. Are you? Well you would be when you take a look at all those gorgeous pairs that we are about to reveal to you. Metal toe-caps are a passe' we vouch for full metallic shoes now. And well metallic trend incorporated in the shoe in parts too, but creatively. 

The Spring Summer 2013 runways were filled with these, with the top designers across the fashion capitals pairing them with their latest creations. It has to mean something right? Plus we are seeing many a versions on the street too.

MET Gala 2013 : Who really was a punk?

For this post right here, let us forget for a few minutes what we usually find acceptable, sexy and good looking. Let's think Punk, for that was the very interesting theme of the MET Ball this year around. And Punk is rebellious, it breaks norms and does never try to fit in. Even though its elements like leather, studs are more or less a norm today and has lost its shock value ; the spirit of rebellion is at the heart of punk.

So our compilation today only talks about that, at the Red Carpet who really took a risk? Who really was dared to stand out and go a little or a lot crazy... who really was the punk?

The title says it all, and gives a fine introduction to what we are fascinated by today. Be it Lady Gaga walking in Mc Queen's gasp-worthy reptile shoes in 2009 or Michael Jackson wearing the red leather jacket in Thriller in 1982, it is no news that music videos make a lot of fashion news. In fact we found on article that compares the above two.

Though, we agree it is not everyday that a legendary music video is released ; but every year some videos churned out do make you acquainted with a lot of trends. So what has been happening in 2013? It's been a little while since we featured well dressed Bollywood celebrities on our blog. But we consider it very important to do so, since International trends and celebrities deeply inspire us, but on we are very much in love with the locals too. And boy ! so they know their fashion. In certain cases the styling is so impeccable that it makes us stop and stare. You could do the same if you like. 

We set out to feature Bollywood Celebs in non-traditional outfits, but when we saw Kajol dressed so impeccably in a saree, we just could not help ourselves. So have a look and be sure to leave a comment to tell us who were your favorites in particular.

Latest Accessory : Knee High Gladiators

This one is rather a come-back, but in fashion isn't everything is? It is circle of fashion. But if you haven't noticed yet the big news is, Knee High Gladiators are in vogue again. They were a hit on the spring-runways, later among the edgy and bold celebrities, and it is permeating to the street too. But perhaps only the creamy layer on the street yet. But it can surely trickle down further.

But before it becomes a fairly common sight, why don't you trend-setters get yourself a pair? A piece of advice though, these would visually cut your legs in half, and hence make you look shorter. But if you are blessed with good height.. this one is for you. But there is a way around it. Either wear something like Alexander Wang's minimal gladiator interpretation. Wear them not in a high-contrasting black, instead choose a tan color closer to your skin tone. Or finish below the calf, and make sure you pair it with super-short shorts. 

But all that said, you still need to see the trend for yourself right? So here we go.

In case you haven't noticed or you are a new reader, we here at Heiress at the start of every month, for a while now, have been sharing Magazine Covers for the month or maybe our favorite editorial. Even though our world is online, we still like to see how printed magazines are doing. What the editors around the world are envisioning as fashion's future. And we make sure to find a direction in it.

The May Covers interestingly point towards fitness, swimsuits and the sea. In India, May officially means kick starting of the "real" summers. So the lure of the sea, or even water ( we talked about pool parties a while ago) is understandable. We are pretty sure its the same for any country starting the summer season. 

But most interestingly, these covers do not feel to us like anorexic women on display. They look healthier don't they? Hence we feel the message is fitness for fashion. What is your take?
